LZ Info
Perhaps the most important thing to remember when working around helicopters are the danger zones. Entering any of these zones is unsafe and could result in great bodily injury to the person who enters the danger zone as well as injury to the crew and patient if loaded. Please be aware that approaching the helicopter without a crew member is discouraged. AirMed flight crews will make contact with you first and advise you on what and who they need to accompany them to the aircraft.
With either aircraft, Airmed requests a minimum of a 75 ft by 75 ft clear landing zone. If at all possible, preferred is a 100 ft by 100 ft clear landing zone. If you are in doubt whether there is enough room, change the landing zone and advise our dispatch. Landing zones look different from the air. If an AirMed pilot sees a potential risk, they will advise the ground crews of the issue. If you have any questions on landing zones, please contact Mandi Purcell at 706-434-4008. We are more than happy to schedule an ”LZ” class for your service. Our “LZ” class has been approved by GAEMS Region VI for CEU’s!
